Unofficial

Unofficial is a day where college students celebrate St. Patricks Day. It is a day to start drinking early in the morning and for some students this means going to class drunk. Most of the university is dressed in green showing Irish pride ready to have a day full of celebration. This year at the University of Illinois they decided that they had to start cracking down on the drinking, especially underage drinking. The university brought in tons of cops to check students backpacks for anything that they may be carrying alcohol in. In the dorms they brought in cops to walk around so that they students would be less likely to drink in the dorms. The RA's had to walk around all day, unable to celebrate the day.

The bars, which is open for anybody 19 and over can go in, was only open to those who were 21 this weekend. This was to try and cut down on any underage drinking at the bars.

I don't understand why they choose this one day to try and stop drinking at the school, I mean drinking goes on every week. One reason could be because many people start drinking early in the morning and are going to classes intoxicated, but if they are trying to stop this from happened it is going to take a lot more than that.
