Unofficial

Unofficial is a day where college students celebrate St. Patricks Day. It is a day to start drinking early in the morning and for some students this means going to class drunk. Most of the university is dressed in green showing Irish pride ready to have a day full of celebration. This year at the University of Illinois they decided that they had to start cracking down on the drinking, especially underage drinking. The university brought in tons of cops to check students backpacks for anything that they may be carrying alcohol in. In the dorms they brought in cops to walk around so that they students would be less likely to drink in the dorms. The RA's had to walk around all day, unable to celebrate the day.

The bars, which is open for anybody 19 and over can go in, was only open to those who were 21 this weekend. This was to try and cut down on any underage drinking at the bars.

I don't understand why they choose this one day to try and stop drinking at the school, I mean drinking goes on every week. One reason could be because many people start drinking early in the morning and are going to classes intoxicated, but if they are trying to stop this from happened it is going to take a lot more than that.

9 year old becomes pregnant

In Brazil, a nine year old was shunned by the Roman Catholic Church for having an abortion. After being raped by her stepfather, the nine year old became pregnant with twins. Since abortion is illegal in Brazil, the only way that the girl could have an abortion is if it was threatening to her life. Her vagina is too small to hold two babies, so the country was allowing her to have the abortion.

I personally think that it is up to the individual to decide whether or not a mother can have an abortion. I don't think that countries can determine that for you because it is such a personal choice.

The Bachelor

I know this may be random, but I have been watching the season of the Bachelor for weeks now and I could not believe how it ended. Jason, the man who is trying to find love, was down to his two final girls and had to choose one to propose to. The final two were Melissa and Molly. I had personally liked Melissa from the beginning, she was down to earth and you could tell that he had fallen for her. Molly on the otherhand seemed very fake and seemed to have an act on at all times. In the end he choose Melissa which made me extremely happy and at the time he seemed to be in love with her. Right after the season finale was another show to see how the couple was doing. As soon as Jason was talking to the host he stated that he did not feel that he was in love with Melissa anymore, something had changed, and was going to break up with her on national television. I was in shock that this man hadn't even talked to her about it and is now just breaking up with her for no real reason, except that he couldn't stop thinking about Molly. Melissa was of course furious with him when he said this but there was nothing that she could do about it. As soon as Melissa left Molly came out and talked with Jason. She decided to give him another try so that they could try and have a family together. This seemingly nice guy on the Bachelor, turned out to be a not so nice guy after all. As of right now I don't think that he will find his "true" love anytime soon.

Tallest Man

I was looking at the Guinness World Records, and found it amazing how tall the tallest man in the world is. He is 8 feet and 11 inches (as shown in the picture above). This man, Robert Pershing Wadlow, was born February 22, 1918 in Illinios. He died July 15, 1940 only a month after his last measuring. His shoe size was 18.5 inches long, he wore a 25 size ring, and his arm span was 9 ft 5¾ in. His daily calorie consumption was about 8000. I personally don't know how he handled being that tall, towering over everybody around him. Even towering a good 2 feet over your father.
